FAQs
⚡ Microwave Repair FAQs
Q: Why is my microwave not heating food?
If your microwave turns on but doesn’t heat, it could be due to a failed magnetron, high-voltage diode, or capacitor — all of which are high-voltage components and should only be handled by a qualified technician. We’ll safely diagnose and repair the issue.
⸻
Q: My microwave is making loud or strange noises — should I be concerned?
Yes. Buzzing, grinding, or popping sounds may signal a problem with the turntable motor, stirrer fan, or high-voltage components. Unusual sounds often mean something is wearing out or has failed — it’s best to stop using the unit and schedule a repair.
⸻
Q: The turntable isn’t spinning. Will that affect cooking?
Definitely. A non-spinning turntable can cause uneven heating. This could be caused by a worn-out motor, a broken turntable coupler, or issues with the internal switches. We’ll pinpoint the problem and get it moving again.
⸻
Q: My microwave display or buttons aren’t working — can it be fixed?
Yes. A faulty control panel, touchpad, or circuit board can often be repaired or replaced without needing a new microwave — especially in built-in or over-the-range units.
⸻
Q: Why is my microwave sparking inside?
Sparking (or arcing) inside the microwave is usually caused by:
• A metal object left inside
• A damaged waveguide cover
• Worn or burnt rack supports
• Grease or food buildup on walls
Stop using the microwave immediately and call for service — continued use can cause further damage or fire risk.
⸻
Q: Can a microwave trip the breaker?
Yes. If the microwave is drawing too much power or has a shorted internal component, it can trip the breaker or blow a fuse. Common culprits include the magnetron, transformer, or power cord.
⸻
Q: Is it worth repairing a microwave, or should I replace it?
For countertop microwaves, replacement is often more cost-effective. But if you have a built-in, over-the-range, or high-end model, repair can save you hundreds. We’ll give you an honest assessment before recommending next steps.
⸻
Q: Can I keep using my microwave if it’s acting weird?
No — if you notice sparks, burning smells, inconsistent heating, or odd noises, stop using it immediately. Microwaves contain high-voltage parts that can remain dangerous even after being unplugged.
⸻
Q: What brands do you repair?
We service all major microwave brands, including:
GE, Whirlpool, Frigidaire, LG, Samsung, Sharp, Panasonic, KitchenAid, and more — including built-in and over-the-range units.
⸻
Q: How soon can you repair my microwave?
We offer fast, flexible scheduling — often same- or next-day service in the Greater Boston area. Just give us a call or book online and we’ll take care of the rest.
Over 100+ 5-Star Reviews
My fridge stopped working, so I called this company and was booked an appointment for the next day. Nick came out, quickly figured out the issue, and fixed it that day. My fridge has been working great since, and he saved me a bunch of money. 10/10 service. I highly recommend it for anyone with appliance issues.
Nick was great, a life saver. I needed someone to disconnect a dishwasher and gas range and then return to install new ones. The gas connection was a little tricky, but he figured it out. There was also an unusual situation with the water connection for the dishwasher that he managed as well. Nick is a really nice, knowledgeable, and conscientious guy with a good work ethic. Heâ s attentive and good at communicating. I couldnâ t be happier and recommend him highly.
If I could give Nick 10 stars, I would! He was an absolute pleasure to interact with...friendly, super knowledgeable, and willing to tack on a diagnostic of my dryer after he was finished repairing my stove. I would not hesitate to contact him in the future and utilize his services for my next appliance repair need.
Nick is great, squeezed me in the day after I called when I wasn't expecting him for a few more days! Was able to diagnose the issue quickly with my fridge and saved me from having to buy a new one! All for a super reasonable price. Will definitely be my go-to appliance repairman from now on!
